Helen,

These were some of the words beneath the anger connected to a painful financial experience from the past. The event had happened years earlier. The anger was still present.

You should have supported me.

I should never have had to struggle this hard.

I lost years of my life trying to recover from what you did.

Over the years, I have worked with women who were left carrying financial responsibilities someone else had promised to share.

They found a way to survive.

They worked, paid the bills, cared for the people depending on them, and made difficult decisions with the resources they had.

Years later, their financial circumstances had changed. They had built different lives, increased their incomes, and become capable of supporting themselves.

The anger was still there.

In one of these situations, we spent considerable time tapping on that anger.

We allowed the anger to tell the truth about what had happened, what this woman had been left to carry, and what the experience had cost her.

As the emotional intensity shifted, an enormous amount of energy became available.

The anger had been using energy she needed in the present.

She had spent years holding the injustice, protecting herself from being placed in that position again, and carrying what should never have belonged to her alone.

When she no longer needed to use so much of herself to hold that experience, she regained access to more of who she had become.

Her creativity. Her power. Her capacity. Her sense of possibility.

This week, we have explored several layers of financial stress.

On Monday, we looked at what happens in your nervous system when money feels overwhelming. On Tuesday, we examined the mind chatter that predicts what could go wrong. Yesterday, we went underneath the thoughts and worked with the painful emotions.

Today, we are looking at the experiences your body may still remember.

Perhaps money disappeared suddenly.

Someone controlled your access to money.

You experienced job loss, debt, eviction, betrayal, exploitation, or a period when you could not meet your basic needs.

You invested money, work, and hope in a business or financial goal, and the result never came.

You were underpaid, financially abandoned, or left responsible for expenses that should have been shared.

Your nervous system learned from that experience.

Money can disappear.

I cannot depend on anyone.

It is all on me.

I must always be prepared.

I cannot afford to slow down.

Hope is dangerous.

I will never allow that to happen again.

Those conclusions can continue shaping your financial life long after the original experience has ended.

You may overwork because your body remembers what happened when there was not enough.

You may struggle to receive support because support once came with control, obligation, or disappointment.

You may pull away from another ambitious business or career goal because the last one ended in financial loss, shame, or disappointment.

A quiet sales week may activate far more fear than the current numbers warrant because your body connects it with an earlier period of instability.

You may carry anger into present financial conversations because part of you is still responding to someone who failed you years ago.

Your current financial response may contain the emotional meaning of a connected past experience.

For fourteen years as a psychotherapist specializing in trauma, and five years since as a coach, I have spent nineteen years total helping people understand how earlier experiences continue influencing their emotions, bodies, identities, relationships, and choices.

That work taught me to listen for the connection between what is happening now and what the nervous system remembers.

Today, I bring that understanding into my work with women and money.

When we use EFT tapping with a connected past experience, we work with something specific: the emotion, the sensation in the body, the most painful part of what happened, and the meaning the woman formed while she was living through it.

Her response begins to make sense.

Of course I learned to stay alert.

Of course I became angry.

Of course I stopped trusting support.

Of course part of me is afraid to try again.

As the emotional charge shifts, her nervous system can begin recognizing what is available to her now.

She has knowledge she did not have then. She may have more choices, skills, relationships, support, and capacity.

Processing a connected past experience releases energy for the life you are creating now.

Energy that has been invested in anger, fear, vigilance, shame, or disappointment can become available for creativity, financial decision-making, purposeful action, receiving support, and recognizing new possibilities.

You regain access to the resourceful woman you have become.

So, Helen, think about the financial situation creating stress for you now.

Does any part of your response feel familiar?

When have you felt this way before?

What earlier financial, business, professional, or relational experience does this situation resemble?

What did that experience teach you about money, support, work, success, or your capacity to create what you want?

What resources do you have now that were unavailable to you then?

During a complimentary Financial Ease Clarity Call, we can begin exploring that connection.

We will identify the financial situation creating stress, examine what is happening in your nervous system, mind chatter, and emotions, and listen for an earlier experience that may still be influencing your response.

Then we will clarify the support that could help you move forward. If you need deeper support processing the pattern, we can also discuss whether Financial Ease Breakthrough, my five-session private coaching experience, is the right fit for you.
