Hi SisterQueen Helen
Last week I emailed you a quiz to see how you are maintaining work life balance/integration did you complete it? Today I thought I'd talk about the stress response.
I have been having alot of conversations with my clients about stress/overwhelm/procrastination and perfectionism.
Did you know that the fight, flight and freeze commonly known as the stress response out pictures as perfectionism ( fight) procrastination ( flight) and overwhelm ( freeze)?
Stress can have such a debilitating effect on all the systems of the body:
Stress has a degrading effect on your mental focus and clarity. When under stress all of your energy is spinning up in your head which leads to a frenetic, anxious energy, feeling unfocused, having scattered thoughts.
Does that sound familiar?
Stress prevents you from: Having clarity, activating your brilliance, being creative resourceful- getting amazing ideas and insights; grounded, focused and to effective, efficient, inspired action.
Stress can have such a negative effect on your business, career, relationship, health, finances etc.
IMPACT OF STRESS ON THE BODY
- Your body begins to experience low-grade fight or flight, the kind you may be so used to that you don’t notice.
- The blood flows away from your forebrain. This has been known to diminish your creative, problem-solving capabilities.
-
You Experience A Hormonal Cascade: Cortisol (the stress hormone) shoots up.
-
It Can Affect Your Immune System
-
Your Sleep Is Affected
-
It Changes Your Brain
-
It Changes Your Gut
-
It Hurts Heart Health
-
It Can Turn Your Hair White
Thus the ability to manage your stress is integral to the process of creating success and personal fulfillment in your life. The ability to regulate yourself creating safety, calm, focus, clarity is an absolutely essential skill to learn.
The first step to being able to manage your stress response is being able to recognize when you are feeling stressed.
Take some time to Journal on the the following questions:
- What triggers stress for you on a daily basis?
- How does the stress feel in your body?
- What does your morning routine feel like?
- What does 9 AM feel like when you get to work?
- What does work feel like?
- What about your non-work life? What does that feel like?
- How do your relationships feel?
- What does your evening routine feel like?
Please hit reply I'd love to know your responses to these journal prompts.
Be Magnificent SisterQueen
xoxo
