Hello SisterQueen Helen

This month we have been talking about relationships since February is the month of love.

The last two weeks we talked about our relationship with ourselves (self-love and self-care) as the foundation for all relationships.

Today I wanted to share about relationships with others.

I was talking to one of my friends last Monday and she was sharing about her yearning for community/tribe/pride.  I shared with her how I grew up.

So I grew up in a literal tribe called Alur and my clan is Amor, yes like love but  loosely translated it means “to thunder” or quake or roar.

I was related to everyone in my neighborhood. I knew who I was and knew where I belonged.

As you may have noticed I use the word pride instead of tribe

  1.   I am a huge fan of the lion king - pride rock
  2.  I see the women I work with and the ones I resonate with as lionesses hence pride 🙂
  3.  I have some hang ups about the word tribe

So why am I telling you this?

For many reasons, most women have internal barriers to receiving the level of support they need to truly succeed:

  •  They don’t want to appear weak, inadequate, or needy.
  • They don’t want to go into “receiving debt.”
  • They don’t want to burden others with their problems.

Does this resonate with you?

As a result, women…

  • Have minimized their needs for support, and therefore are disconnected from what they truly need from themselves and others
  • Are not sure how to ask for or access support from others (this is reinforced by #1)
  •  Feel it is too risky to ask for and receive support, as it is a vulnerable act, requiring us to be seen in our imperfections and to admit to uncertainty and the possibility of failing.

What's your story around needing support?

What kind of support do you need?

Would you be open to attracting your pride?

BE MAGNIFICENT Helen
