Dear Helen
This morning, I found myself reflecting on ways I could support you and the incredible women in our community, especially in times like these. Then, I came across some insights from my mentor, Dr. Claire Zammit, that resonated deeply, and I knew they were worth sharing with you. These steps offer a way to process and find calm amidst the uncertainty we’re facing, together.
Finding Strength and Calm Within: 7 Steps for Navigating Uncertainty
In times like these, it’s natural to feel a mix of emotions—disappointment, fear, or even anger. You’re not alone. These feelings are part of the human experience, and we’re here to honor and work through them together.
1. Acknowledge and Normalize Your Emotions
Whatever you’re feeling is valid. These emotions—whether they’re heavy or fleeting—are part of being human. Recognize them, honor them, and know that by doing so, you’re helping yourself feel seen and connected.
2. Embrace Grounding Practices Together
Grounding practices can be profoundly calming in uncertain times. Let’s take a moment to connect with our breath, step outside for fresh air, or stretch mindfully. These simple acts help us ease anxiety and reconnect to a steady presence within.
3. Remember Your Inner Strength
Reflect on past moments when you’ve overcome challenges. These experiences are reminders of the resilience within you. That strength is still there, ready to support you now.
4. Seek Connection and Community
Community can be a lifeline. Whether it’s with friends, family, or groups that share your values, these connections remind us of our collective strength. You’re never alone on this journey.
5. Shift Toward Possibility and Vision
In challenging times, it’s powerful to envision a brighter future. Hold space for dreams of the world you want to help create, and begin to make plans. This shift from pain to possibility can reignite hope and give you a renewed sense of direction.
6. Take Purposeful Action
Channel your emotions into meaningful action. Whether through advocacy, supporting a cause, or educating others, intentional action can help restore a sense of purpose and power.
7. Honor Rest, Self-Care, and Boundaries
Healing is a journey. It’s okay to take breaks, set boundaries, and recharge. Self-care is essential to sustaining your resilience and nurturing your inner strength.
As leaders and community builders, we have a unique opportunity to create spaces of healing, growth, and empowerment—even when times feel uncertain. Through grounded, empathetic presence, we offer each other the support needed to process, rise, and move forward with renewed hope.
Stay Magnificent!
xoxo
