On Wednesday I wrote about something personal — my own story about my parents' will, and what it taught me about land, inheritance, and who gets to own what.

What I really wanted to underscore in that email is something bigger than my family. It is about the cultural narratives we inherit around money — often without ever realizing it.

Here is one fact that stayed with me: in Uganda, it was not until 2022 that women were legally allowed to inherit property.
